Based in Brooklyn, NY, Tru is a songwriter and trained vocalist whose work blends elements of indie, folk-pop, and shoegaze with lush, choral-inspired harmonies.

A choir kid at heart, Tru’s musicality draws from her classical roots, influences from her mixed-race background, lived experience, and everything left unsaid. She brings a wide vocal range, unique vocal agility, and emotional depth to every project, including her work as one half of the jazz/folk duo Perigean, which has been performing throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn since 2024.

That same year, the songwriter released her debut single and music video “You Are” to widespread acclaim, earning a feature on Kodak’s official film Instagram (@kodak_shootfilm) for shooting the video on the rare Ektachrome film stock. She has since followed up with two additional singles, “Take It Back” and “Slowly,” both of which have garnered growing attention.
