Based in Ridgewood, NY, Tru is a songwriter and classically trained vocalist whose work blends elements of indie, folk-pop, and shoegaze with lush, choral-inspired harmonies to create sound worlds that reflect on memory and her surrounding environment. A choir kid at heart, Tru brings a wide vocal range and agility to every project, never limiting herself to the frame of a genre. Her artistry is one of untethered exploration and curiosity.
As a soloist and songwriter, Tru has released several titles, including her 2024 debut single and music video, “You Are,” which earned widespread acclaim and a feature on Kodak’s official film Instagram (@kodak_shootfilm) for its use of the rare Ektachrome film stock. She followed with “Take It Back” (2024), “Slowly” (2025), and her debut EP, “Cousins” (2025), all of which have garnered growing attention. Throughout 2026 and 2027, Tru plans to release a series of new singles, beginning in Winter 2026.
Her professional performance work also includes Perigean, a jazz/folk duo formed with Brooklyn-based vocalist Amy Beth Anders. Performing across the New York boroughs since 2024, the pair has developed a sound that weaves tight vocal harmonies with piano, baritone ukulele, and ukulele. Their arrangements span original songs written individually and collaboratively, alongside covers of artists including Dolly Parton, Nirvana, Madison Cunningham, and Gillian Welch.
